At SBCCC we understand the critical importance of nutrition for your child. We also understand families are busy and may not have the time to commit to providing meals for their child in childcare. For these reasons we are committed to the provision of fresh, high quality, nutritious and tasty meals to tempt even the fussiest eater.
Our chef is dedicated to the provision of meals that cater to the needs of your child. We are food allergy and intolerance aware and aim to work closely with your family to ensure the food supplied to your child meets their nutritional needs and takes into account any allergies or intolerances.
We actively work within the current guidelines
Our menus are designed to appeal to young eaters whose tastes are developing. We encourage children to explore new tastes and textures, to develop skills to feed themselves and to contribute to the development of the child’s understanding of how nutritious food helps to make healthy bodies.
Our menus are seasonal and incorporate fresh produce and meals cooked from scratch in our kitchen. We take the time to get to know the tastes of children and use this information to influence the menu selections where ever possible.
To complement our focus on healthy eating the service maintains an expanding fruit, herb and vegetable garden. Here we are able to utilise the garden to teach about food production and inspire young gardeners, as well as demonstrate the cyclic process of seed to plant to table to compost and back to the garden. Children are involved in the garden as part of most days and will often pick fresh produce and deliver it to the kitchen, to be eaten with their lunch or snacks.
